With a set of session leader's notes enabling teachers, family learning workers or indeed any competent adult to run a session for parents before giving them a copy of the booklet.
This booklet was developed to assist all those who read to young children, particularly in libraries and Sure Start Centres. It was propelled by the UK government initiative in 2007/8, alarmed at the standard of literacy, to stimulate reading and listening. In every copy there is a pull out page on how to conduct a workshop.
The success of How to Enjoy Reading to Young Children provided an opportunity to develop workshops, teaching librarians and parents in vocally bringing a story to life.
Edmund has toured all over the British Isles – from Aberdeen to Ballymena, from Sheffield to Blandford in Dorset and to a memorable session in the library at Thurrock, in the East End of London– conducting lively two to three hour sessions in voice training with groups of librarians and parents, to great success.
The feedbacks have been unanimous with praise:
"Edmund was very inspiring. I could listen to him read all day."
"Fantastic! Animated and informative, kept our attention at all times."
"Kept everyone enthused and was realistic about what can be achieved."
"Being spoken to by someone who is passionate about their topic makes all the difference."
"Good positive points to remember when presenting a story."
