SCOTCH COLLEGE TESTIMONIAL
Edmund Pegge It is exhilarating when you meet a highly experienced and wise professional actor who young people can relate to and learn from. Edmund Pegge is one of those rare artists who can tutor, mentor, teach and demonstrate his professional skills. With his wealth of knowledge, years on the London, European and Australian stage and numerous film roles around the world, his credits speak for themselves. However, with his rich tapestry of experience and intricate understanding of the techniques of genres and styles of theatre, he was the perfect specialist to assist a group of my Stage 2 students with the delicacies and complications of the delivery Farce. My class of 17 students performed four plays, and Edmund critiqued all four and provided constructive criticism and practical ways to improve individual and ensemble performances. Edmund mostly worked with one of the four groups rehearsing a sophisticated, complex Farce. He conducted several extensive workshops within a short, intensive period of time. Some of the students were struggling with the timing and movement needed for the rhythm of the piece, as well as defining a believable character from which a more exaggerated stereotype could develop. He work shopped sections of the text and helped specific individuals by actually involving himself and immersing himself into the process. His vitality, charismatic stage presence, dry wit, charm and brilliance as an actor and knowledge of the style, had a dramatic input into the flow of the piece and the confidence of the young actors. I highly recommend him as a workshop tutor and am grateful and honoured to have watched him perform as well as guide and direct challenging theatre. I hope to work with him again in the future.
